Gloves of Shadowstuff

Description: Black pair of glove that almost glows a cold and sinister black aura. On the back of each glove has a red crystal that glows when the gloves are used.

Ability: While you are in or within 5' of a shadow you my imbue your spells damaging with the essence of shadowstuff. The spells imbued damages your Con by 2 when cast however it adds cold damage to your spell equal to your lvl x1.5.

After every successful spell the creature using the gloves must make a will save equal to the DC of the casted spell +2 or move one step closer to evil (example: good to neutral; neutral to evil). An already evil creature will have to make a fort save with the same DC as above or lose 1 addition all point of con damage.

Con damage done by this weapon can't be healed unless the creature does a ritual at midnight sacrificing 1 humanoid creature per point of con damage.

Don't blame me for what my minions have done. Blame yourself for being the target.

That's.. quite the wondrous item. Honestly, my first thought upon reading it was, "oh, sure, give spellcasters yet another item to boost their abilities. What of non-spellcasters, huh?"

My second thought was then, "shadows aren't inherently evil" but ah, well. Considering the requirement to heal the Constitution damage, I s'pose it is fairly balanced. Granted, if used against someone with cold resistance or immunity, it'd be fairly useless.

Nice to keep around incase you run into a red dragon, though.

It definitely a powerful item, but its one that can be over used easily. The average good or neutral spellcaster can only use it 4 times or die, and an evil spellcaster can only use it 3 time before attempting the ritual or die. It's almost as deadly to the user as it is to the target of the spell.
Edit: Actually A good/neutral will be unconscious after 4 user assuming they have a con of 10(with max hp), and evil users will also fall unconscious after only 3 uses.

Shadows may not be inherently evil, but it was my idea to balance this item out. Plus People since ancient time have always feared the night and dark shadows. Fearing the evil creature that may be hiding within them.
Edit: Also in 3.0 people would sacrifice their souls for the essence of shadowstuff. So one could say that shadowstuff is evil in the history of d&d.

At the moment, the only counter-counter-counter arguement that I can think of regarding "shadows = evil" was that, if I remember correctly, night was created to comfort people from the harshness of light in Tolkien's Middle-earth, but was latter corrupted by the evil forces of Morgoth and Sauron (the first elves even awoke during a star-filled night).

Falchion Of Brutality

Ability: On a successful critical hit this Keen falchion grants its wielder a +1 enhancement bonus to STR for 1 minute(this bonus stacks with all other bonuses of its type). The max bonus you may receive from this source is +8.

While wearing the Mantle of the Juggernaut The max bonus to STR is increased to 10 and you gain +2 STR upon a successful critical hit instead of +1.

Mantle of the Juggernaut
Description: A rare silver mantle with elegant and complex pattern.Mantle of the Juggernaut was designed and crafted by elves to compensate for their less then impressive constitution thousands of years ago.

Ability: On a successful critical hit made with your weapon this mantle grants you a +1 enhancement bonus to CON for 1 minute(this bonus stacks with all other bonuses of its type). The max bonus you may receive from this source is +8.

While wielding the Falchion Of Brutality The max bonus to CON is increased to 10 and you gain +2 CON upon a successful critical hit instead of +1.

I'm starting to think I should've created a "merge threads" function; why not keep all of these in a single thread, like "Magic Items I've Created (D&D 3.5)" or some such thing?

Speaking of which, are these magic items or artifacts? I've noticed that none of them have a price tag listed on them. ¬_¬

Anyway, I can definitely get behind the ring since its power is very similar to the spell resistance granted by the holy avenger. My only suggestion would be to change the name of the bonus type, since I figure calling it an "enhancement" and yet saying that it stacks with everything else just sounds confusing. (Then again, there's really not much support one could give melee since a solid-walled force cage cast by a flying wizard would be enough to stop 'em).

(I should also make it so that you can still see the thread while replying because half the time I can never remember what it was I was responding to)

I have no idea what type of bonus I would change it to. Poor jocks(melee classes) getting bullied by nerds(wizards), Class Clowns(Sorcerers), and Hippies(Druids). Spell resistance is good for all classes. :)

(I should also make it so that you can still see the thread while replying because half the time I can never remember what it was I was responding to) Try using your quote function.

I didn't have a way to edit my first post so here are some more items/artifacts I designed.

Boots of the Blue Moon: Once per day, on the 1st critical hit on you teleport 5' away to safety.

Gloves of the Sun: Once per day, a natural 1 on an attack roll becomes a natural 2 in Stead.

Mantle of the Earth: Once per day on the first hit you would take reduce the damage you would take by an amount equal to your level.

Amulet of the Stars: Once per day when you are at negative hit points you automatically stabilize and recover to 1 hit point (If Con is zero it is increased to 2 instead).

Cape of the Wind: +1 to reflex saves at level 1. +2 at level 5, +3 at level 10, +4 at level 15, +5 at level 20

Ring of Fire: 1+1/4 character level fire damage to attacking enemy when hit by a unarmed attack or hit by a metal weapon.

Crown of Water: +1 to will saves at level 1. +2 at level 5, +3 at level 10, +4 at level 15, +5 at level 20

Bracers of Earth: +1 to fort saves at level 1. +2 at level 5, +3 at level 10, +4 at level 15, +5 at level 20

Don't blame me for what my minions have done. Blame yourself for being the target.

That's odd, the edit ability should be next to the quote ability.

Quote:
Boots of the Blue Moon: Once per day, on the 1st critical hit on you teleport 5' away to safety.
Does this allow you to avoid the first critical that would hit you, or does it activate when the first critical hits you?

Quote:
Amulet of the Stars: Once per day when you are at negative hit points you automatically stabilize and recover to 1 hit point (If Con is zero it is increased to 2 instead).
Which Con, modifier or score? Because once your Con score hits zero, you die; it doesn't matter how many hit points you have left.

Quote:
Ring of Fire: 1+1/4 character level fire damage to attacking enemy when hit by a unarmed attack or hit by a metal weapon.
Does this include striking from afar with a ranged weapon, such as a spiked chain?

Bleah, I'm starting to become Douchey McNitpicky. With regards to what I said about seeing the posts in the thread while replying, I was thinking more along the lines of being able to see it without necessarily having to quote it. Then again, I could go about creating a multi-quote or quickpost system.

I could also just merge this thread with your other one manually.

It would appear when the post becomes so old I lose the ability to edit it.

I was thinking when the first critical would hit you when I was thinking these things up.

Con score.

Quote:

Yes, considering the person is still holding the chain so it would still transfer the heat.
